The Playland Tour is the debut/inaugurul concert tour by American singer-songwriter Melanie Martinez. The tour would support her debut studio album Playland and run from December 9th, 2021, up until November 18th, 2022, comprising of a total of 36 dates spanning from Europe to Asia to Australia to North America. Rina Sawayama was chosen by Martinez as the opening act for all of the tour dates.

The Playland Tour was a massive commercial success, with attendance of up to 700,000 and an overall box office of over $108 million dollars. As of December 2021, the tour ranked number 19 on the Billboard Boxscores list, published by Billboard Box Office.

Background And Development

Immediately after the release of Martinez's debut studio album, Playland, Martinez started making preparations for her inaugural concert tour to support the record. She worked with numerous creative and visual directors to establish the basis of the tour. The concept of the tour was created entirely by Martinez.

The Playland Tour in itself, really, is more of an experience rather than just a show. The idea I had for this tour, well it's more of a concept than a idea, but anyways what I wanted for this tour was that it would present itself as the actual embodiment of the Playland world, so my fans would get a real taste of what goes on in Playland, and how the events in the album really play out in real life.

The Playland Tour received positive reviews from critics and critical acclaim from fans. Many critics stated that the tour was very well planned and executed and was a great starter tour, while fans of Martinez said that the tour was an experience unlike any other.

Commercial

Tickets for The Playland Tour went on sale in early December of 2021 at a base price of $95 per person. The tour garnered 700,000 in attendance, which brought in $108,500,000 in box office.
